BUG: Visual J++ Debugging Fails with Windows 2000 Beta 3

SYMPTOMS

When trying to debug a Java Applet or Application with Visual J++ 6.0 on Windows 2000 beta 3, you may experience one or more of the following problems:

The applet or application runs as expected when launched outside of the Visual J++ debugger.


RESOLUTION

A fix for this problem is available at the Windows 2000 Beta Web site (User name and password required). Download and execute the two files Vjfixi.exe and Dbgfixi.exe. This installs a new version of Ntoskrnl.exe and additional debugging files.

WARNING: This fix has not been fully regression tested and should not be applied to systems that are not experiencing problems debugging under Visual J++ 6.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
