   Word’s formulas provide a very flexible way to produce an endless
   array of mathematical equations and special typesetting displays. This
   Application Note provides an introduction to the use of formulas,
   along with a number of examples for using them. Before attempting to
   use formulas, make sure that the Symbol font is installed in your
   System. This can be checked from within Word. From the Format menu,
   choose Character. If Symbol appears in the list of fonts in the Format
   Character dialog box, it is installed in the System.
