   Font2001

CAUSE

Word 4.0 for the Macintosh retain fonts based on their Macintosh Font ID numbers. The Font ID for the same font may differ on different Macintosh systems. For example, Chicago may be font 3 on one Macintosh system and font 16 on another. This may occur because the Macintosh system changes a font's ID number if another font already uses that number.

Therefore, the following behavior occurs when you open a Word 4.0 for the Macintosh document into Word versions 6.0 and later:

RESOLUTION

To replace text formatted in "fontxxxx" with the actual font name, following conversion, use the Replace command in Word. To replace the incorrect font name with the proper font name, follow these steps:

 1. Determine the appropriate font to replace each of the incorrect font
     numbers.

 2. On the Edit menu, click Replace.

 3. In Word 97 only, if the Format button is not displayed click More.

 4. Place the cursor in the Find What box.

 5. Click the Format drop down menu and then click Font.

 6. Once the Font dialog box appears, type the incorrect font (for
example, "Font2001" [without the quotation marks]) in the font name
box, making sure it is spelled identically to the way it appears in
     the Font drop-down menu.

 7. Click OK. The incorrect font name should appear below the Find What
     box.

 8. Place the cursor in the Replace With box.

 9. Click the Format drop down menu and click Font.

10. Select the font you want to replace the incorrect font and then click
