Cannot See Some Web Sites That Contain Java Programs in Internet Explorer 3.02

SYMPTOMS

After you install Internet Explorer 3.02, you may no longer be able to view Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) documents that contain Java programs that load images or sounds locally.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of a security fix that restricts local file Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) in version 1516 of the Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM). This restriction prevents a nontrusted Java program from opening a file on the local computer.

RESOLUTION

Install the latest Microsoft virtual machine for Internet Explorer update (version 1517 or later). To obtain the Microsoft VM update, visit the following Microsoft Web site, and click Downloads:
