Total Nick (Alias) Collisions Counter Not Incremented Properly

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to connect to a computer that is running Chat Server with an alias that is already in use, an error message is displayed indicating that the alias is in use, but the Total Nick (Alias) Collisions counter is not incremented.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Chat Server program that is included with Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 2.0 and Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5 Service Pack 1.
