PRJ98: File Size Greatly Increases After Saving Baseline

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you save a baseline, the file size of a project may substantially increase, to as much as five times larger.


CAUSE

This problem may occur when the resource calendar is either:

NOTE: The Standard calendar is the default calendar titled Standard when you create a new project. Its working time is 8:00 A.M .to 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday are nonworking days.

Calendar exceptions are any customizations of the calendar, for example, making New Years Day and Christmas nonworking days, or creating a vacation of five days.


RESOLUTION

If you do not have costs assigned to resources in your project, this problem will be reduced if you install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).


To work around this problem, use the default Standard calendar.


STATUS

This problem was improved in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
