PRJ98: Resource May Be Replaced After Updating Resource Pool

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, after you save changes to a resource pool, one or more resources assigned to tasks may be replaced with a different resource.


CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:

  1. You open a project that shares resources from a resource pool that is read-only.


  2. You create a new resource in the project, and assign the resource to a task.


  3. Another user on another computer updates the resource pool with a new resource.


  4. You then update the resource pool to reflect the new resource from step 2.



RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
