SYMPTOMS

The Windows Media Encoder will fail when used with an Osprey 100 video capture card on a Compaq Presario 5220.


CAUSE

This is due to the way the Compaq Presario 5220 handles the sharing of IRQs. The Osprey 100 video capture card requires its own IRQ, not a shared IRQ.


MORE INFORMATION

The Compaq Presario 5220 has two PCI slots and two ISA slots. These slots share an IRQ. The Osprey 100 video capture card needs its own memory address with no conflicts.
