SYMPTOMS

When you install the Windows Media Audio SDK redistribution package on a computer running Windows NT, one of the following error messages may occur:

An error has occured copying msaud32.acm.
Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert 'WMAudio Install' in the drive you specify.
INF Install failure. Reason: Access is denied.


CAUSE

Because the Audio SDK redistribution package installs system components such as codecs, you must be logged on as an administrator to add these types of components.


WORKAROUND

On the computer that you are installing the Audio redistribution package, log on with an account that has administrative privileges.


MORE INFORMATION

Even if you are not installing the redistribution package directly from the Windows Media Audio SDK, you may experience this error from third-party applications that use this redistribution package with their application.
