ACC97: Access Violation with Multiple Queries in Progress

SYMPTOMS

Custom databases that have multiple queries running may stop responding on Windows NT with the following error:

Access Violation (0xc0000005), Address (varies)

This problem typically occurs when you open a database that has a significant number of background queries running simultaneously. It can also occur during the initial phases of form loading.



You may also see this error when you modify the RecordSource property of a form from within the form's Load or Activate events.


CAUSE

The internal list that Microsoft Access maintains to control access to the progress meter on the Status Bar has become corrupted.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 97. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
