ACC2000: Data in Text Box Is Blank When Printed or Previewed

SYMPTOMS

When you print or preview a report or a form, a text box does not display data, even though the records have data in that field.

CAUSE

The text box control will be blank when you print or preview the form or report if the following conditions are true:

The height of a text box control is smaller than the default height of the font selected for the text box.

The CanShrink property is set to Yes.

The CanGrow property is set to No.

RESOLUTION

Increase the height of the text box control by opening the report or form in Design view and manually adjusting the size of the text box to fit the font.

Change the CanGrow property to Yes. This enables the text box control to display data, but may adjust the alignment of data if the data extends past the width of the text box control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

Open sample database Northwind.mdb.

Open the Customer Labels report in Design view.

Select the Address1Line control and change the following properties:


   Height: .15
   CanGrow: No
   CanShrink: Yes

Preview the report. Note that the Address1Line control is blank.
