ACC2000: The Toolbox Command Is Unavailable

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).


SYMPTOMS

The Toolbox command on the View menu is unavailable (appears dimmed) when you have a form, report, or data access page open in Design view.


CAUSE

The built-in toolbars in Microsoft Access are turned off. The Toolbox command is available only if you have not turned off the built-in toolbars.


RESOLUTION

To make the Toolbox command available, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Startup.


  2. Click to select Allow Built-in Toolbars, and then click OK.


  3. Close and save your form (report or page), and then close the database.


  4. Reopen the database, and then reopen the form.



MORE INFORMATION

The Toolbox is considered to be a built-in toolbar in Microsoft Access. If you turn off the built-in toolbars, the Toolbox is not available.
