ACC2000: Undocked Toolbars Disappear When Help Pop-up Is on Screen

SYMPTOMS

When you press the SHIFT+F1 keys to display help for an object in the toolbox, all undocked toolbars are hidden until you close the Help topic.

Also, if you click the Start button while a toolbar is undocked, the undocked toolbar disappears until Microsoft Access becomes the active application again.

To Reproduce Behavior Inside Microsoft Access

  1. Start Microsoft Access and open the sample database Northwind.mdb.


  2. Open the Categories form in Design view.


  3. Drag the standard toolbar into an undocked position.


  4. Press SHIFT+F1 to start Help and when the mouse pointer changes to a question mark (?), click a command in the toolbox.

    Note that the Help screen pops up with the Help topic, but the undocked toolbar disappears.


To Reproduce Behavior Using the Microsoft Windows Start Menu

  1. Repeat steps 1 through 3 in the previous section.


  2. Click the Start button.

    Note that the undocked toolbar disappear until you click back on Microsoft Access and make it the active application.
