FP1: Unwanted Hot Spots Appear Creating Multiple Same Shape Hot Spots

SYMPTOMS

In FrontPage, when you create more than one hot spot on an image, if those hot spots are the same shape, you may end up with more hot spots than you originally intended.

Note that you can see this duplication of hot spots by viewing the HTML code for the page.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you rename the page.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the following steps:

  1. Delete all of the unwanted image maps.


  2. Right-click the image, and then click Properties on the menu that appears.


  3. In the Image Properties dialog box, click Extended.


  4. Select each of the extended attributes and then click Delete.


  5. Save the file.


Now you can safely rename the file by clicking Save As (File menu) in FrontPage Editor. Once you have saved the file with a new name, you can delete the original file.


STATUS

This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows.
