SYMPTOMS

After you install FrontPage 2000 and choose to keep FrontPage 98, the FrontPage 98 icon is not listed in the Windows Start menu.

CAUSE

The shortcut name for FrontPage 98 is identical to the FrontPage 2000 shortcut name. When you install FrontPage 2000, the FrontPage 98 shortcut is overwritten.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, create a new Start menu shortcut. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Taskbar and Start Menu (On Windows NT, click Taskbar)

  2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab.

  3. Click Add.

  4. In the Command Line box, type the path to the FrontPage 98 file named fpexplor.exe. If you installed the program to the default location, following will be the correct path:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage\bin\fpexplor.exe"
NOTE: You must type the quotation marks for Windows to find the correct path.

  5. Click Next Twice.

  6. In the "Select a name for the shortcut" box, type FrontPage 98, and click Finish.

  7. In the Taskbar Properties box, Click OK.
