FP2000: FrontPage may Rearrange Some Nested Block Level Tags

SYMPTOMS

When you work in HTML view, some tags (such as the <pre> tag) may be rearranged. For example, if you have a <pre> tag surrounding several other HTML tags, FrontPage may move the <pre> tag to a location closer to the text in a document.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Some block level FrontPage elements may be rearranged when the page is saved, or when you switch to Normal view and back to HTML view.

If you must use a specific HTML configuration and FrontPage is rearranging the HTML code, follow these steps:

  1. On the Insert menu, point to Advanced, and click HTML.


  2. In the Insert HTML dialog box, type your code, and click OK.


When you use the Insert HTML dialog box to insert HTML code, the code will not be checked for accuracy and will not display in the Normal view. FrontPage will not attempt to render this code. It will preserve any code that is inserted this way.
