In addition, if you have a large Web site, you can use sub-webs to keep track of each author's work by assigning each author his or her own sub-webs. This article describes how to divide a large root Web into several smaller sub-webs.

In FrontPage 2000, you can easily create sub-webs by right-clicking a folder in your web and clicking Convert to Web.

To divide a large root Web into several smaller sub-webs, follow these steps:

  1. Open the web you want to divide into smaller sub-webs.


  2. Organize your content into folders within your web.


  3. Right-click a folder you want to make into a sub-web and click Convert to Web.


  4. You will receive a message similar to the following:
    Changing this folder will cause pages in it to change:

    - Pages that include files may not be updated when included files change

    - Hyperlinks on Navigation bars may be removed

    Are you sure you want to do this?


  5. Click Yes.


NOTES: If you want to use hyperlinks to move from the root Web to a sub-web or between sub-webs, you must use an absolute hyperlink like the following:

http://example.microsoft.com/examplesubweb
Also, if you use shared borders and navigation bars, you may experience some problems.
