FP2000: Inserting Macro Creates a New Module

SYMPTOMS

When you type a name for a macro and click Create in the Macro dialog box, the Visual Basic Editor opens and creates a new module.

The default module name increments by one.

For example: If you currently have a module named Module1, a new module is created that is named Module2.

CAUSE

A new module is created during each FrontPage session. No existing modules will be overwritten or modified by FrontPage.

MORE INFORMATION

When you insert a macro using this method, a new module is created. If you continue to add macros using this method, they will be added to the same module. However, if you close and restart FrontPage and create another macro, a new module will get created.

To work around this behavior, use the copy and paste technique to move code from the new module into an existing module, and then delete the new module.
