FP2000: Links Are Not Updated in PowerPoint Presentations

SYMPTOMS

When you move a PowerPoint presentation from its original file location in a FrontPage Web, FrontPage does not update the link to the new file location.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

• You publish a PowerPoint Presentation to a FrontPage web.
  
  -or-
  
  You save a PowerPoint Presentation to a FrontPage web



• You move the PowerPoint Presentation file (filename.htm) from its original location in the FrontPage web.

CAUSE

PowerPoint files contain a script that has a redirection to the file, which is relative to the location of the original file. FrontPage does not rewrite these links in the script.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
