OFF2000: Invalid Page Fault in Msiexec.exe Caused by Win95.CIH Virus

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, you receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:

MSIEXEC caused an invalid page fault in module MSIEXEC.EXE at 015f:00400288.

followed by the previous error message.

This problem will occur if your computer is infected with the Win95.CIH virus.

You can remove the virus by obtaining the latest version of an anti-virus program.
