OFF2000: More Autoshapes Does Not Work

SYMPTOMS

When you choose More Autoshapes from the Drawing menu, nothing happens, the More Autoshapes window does not appear.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if Microsoft Clip Gallery is set to Install on First Use in the Office Setup configuration. When Clip Gallery is installed in this manner, the Clip Catalogs and Clip files are set to not be installed at all. This is because of the number of files that would have to be installed on first use and the time it would take to install them all.

As a result, the extra autoshapes in Clip Gallery are not available and Clip Gallery does not launch.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must reset Clip Gallery to run from your computer correctly. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.



2. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.



3. Select the version of Office that you have installed.



4. Once setup has brought up the Office Maintenance Mode window, click Add or Remove Features.



5. On the installation tree, click the plus sign next to Office Tools.



6. Click the icon for Clip Gallery, and choose Installed on First Use.
   
   NOTE: This will reset Clip Gallery's setup configuration.



7. Click the icon for Clip Gallery again, and choose Run from My Computer from the menu.
   
   At this point you may change the installation settings for Clip Files and Clip Catalogs.



8. Click Update Now.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
