BUG: Outlook 8.03 Gives Extra Copy Notification to Outlook Extensions

SYMPTOMS

Outlook client extensions that use the IExchExtCommands interface to receive menu notifications observe that during a Copy/Paste operation Outlook 8.03 issues an extra Copy notification (EECMDID_EditCopy) following the Paste notification (EECMDID_EditPaste).

This change in behavior from previous versions of Outlook may cause Outlook extensions that use menu notifications to behave incorrectly.


RESOLUTION



A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Office Service Release (SR-2) that contains this fix.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in Outlook version 8.03.
