OL98: (CW) ErrMsg: "Rfxmsx32.dll could not be installed"

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other (CW) option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Outlook 98, you may get the following error message:

The add-in "Rfxmsx32.dll" could not be installed or loaded. Unable to load "Rfxmsx32.dll". You may be out of memory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file.


RESOLUTION

Remove the RightFax add-in from the Add-In Manager.

The Rfxmsx32.dll file is part of RightFax, a third-party fax program. You must remove it as an Outlook add-in to keep from getting the error message mentioned. After removing the add-in from the Add-In Manager, you will still be able to send faxes with RightFax by choosing it as a printer.

To Remove the RightFax Add-In

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.


  2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.


  3. In Advanced Options, click Add-In Manager.


  4. Click to clear the RightFax check box and click OK, OK, and OK.


To Send a Fax with the RightFax Printer Driver

  1. Prepare a fax message.


  2. On the File menu, click Print.


  3. In Print, click RightFax from the list of available printers and click OK.
