SYMPTOMS

As soon as you start Outlook, the AT&T dialer starts to dial, preventing Outlook from connecting to the Exchange Server.

CAUSE

The AT&T dialer is set to automatically connect when an application tries to access any kind of network application.

RESOLUTION

  1. Double-click to open the AT&T dialer on the desktop or in the Dial-up Networking folder.

  2. Click Options.

  3. Click to clear the "Automatically connect when your Internet application is started" check box. Close the dialog box.

  4. Start Outlook.

NOTE: The AT&T dialer may have the selection checked to you prompt before dialing. In this case, you may have to cancel out of the connectoid five times or so before Outlook will open. In this case, it will still run very slowly, and may even lock up.

The AT&T Dialer is manufactured by AT&T, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
