OL98: (IMO) Cannot Remove WinFax by Disabling the Extension

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

After disabling the extension for the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition and removing the account, the next time you start Microsoft Outlook 98 or click Accounts on the Tools menu, Symantec WinFax Starter Edition shows as an account.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.


MORE INFORMATION

Removing the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition account and add-in does not disable fax capability. In order to prevent the fax service from loading, you must also remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition support files and the files associated with the account.
