OL98: (IMO) ErrMsg "Cannot open one or more attachments"

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only (IMO) option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

Using Microsoft Outlook 98, you may receive the following message when you attempt to open an e-mail message forwarded to you from another user, or one that is a reply to a message you sent previously:

Cannot open one or more attachments


CAUSE

This behavior has been reported to occur on computers running the iRiS AntiVirus software.


RESOLUTION

Deactivate the iRiS Software Limited anti-virus program.


MORE INFORMATION

In the reported incident, the problem message would still not open but other messages of this type, received after the anti-virus software was turned off, had no problem.
