OL98: (IMO) Unable to View Messages from Lotus Notes Senders

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Internet Mail Only option. To determine your installation type, on the Help menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

SYMPTOMS

When a message from a Lotus Notes sender is opened in Microsoft Outlook 98 Internet Mail Only, text written by the Notes sender may not appear. The message will appear in the Preview Pane and the AutoPreview. When replying or forwarding the message, any text written by the Notes sender will not be sent.


RESOLUTION

Switch to the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook.

To convert to the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.


  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.


  3. Click to select Microsoft Outlook 98, and then click Add/Remove.


  4. Click Add New Components, and then click Install From CD or Install From Web, depending on how you originally installed Outlook.


  5. Click Yes to allow Active Setup to detect installed components.


  6. Scroll down to Mail Components and click to select Corporate or Workgroup e-mail service.


  7. Click Next to finish the installation.
