SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 98, when you try to print a fax that you received using Symantec WinFax Starter Edition on a Canon Bubble-Jet, BJC-600e or BJC-4000, a black page is printed. In some cases, the printed fax may have horizontal or vertical black bands at the edges of the page.

This problem has also been reported using Hewlett Packard (HP) DeskJet 600, 850c and 890c printers.

RESOLUTION

Install the Canon BJC-600e driver provided with your version of Microsoft Windows 95. To configure the driver to print received faxes, follow these steps:

  1. On the File menu, click Print. Click Properties and then click the Graphics tab.

  2. Click to set Dithering to Fine.

  3. Click Color and then click "Print in black and white only."

  4. Click OK, OK and then OK to print the fax.

If the problem occurs with the HP DeskJet 600, 850c or 890c, install either the HP 850c, HP 600c or HP 870 printer driver from your Windows 98 CD.
